Privacy
SimpleInvite carries invitations between people who already know each other. That is the whole job, and it is the only reason we hold anyone's information.

SimpleInvite is a product of Bangarang Apps LLC, a limited liability company formed in Virginia, United States.
Who we are
SimpleInvite is a product of Bangarang Apps LLC, a limited liability company formed in Virginia, United States. In this policy, "we" and "us" mean Bangarang Apps LLC, and "you" means whoever is reading — a host who signed up, or a guest who was sent an invite.
We are the party responsible for the information described here. You can reach a person at help@simpleinvite.app.
Two kinds of people, two different relationships
A host chooses SimpleInvite. They create an account, make an event, and decide who to invite.
A guest did not choose us. Their name, and their phone number or email address, reached us because the host they know typed it in or pasted it from their own contacts. A guest never gets an account, never sets a password, and is never asked for anything beyond an answer.
That difference runs through everything below.
What we collect from hosts
A host gives us, or generates through use:
- Account information
- Name, email address, and — once a host turns on texting — a mobile number, verified by a code. Sign-in is handled by Clerk; we hold the account identifier Clerk gives us, not a password.
- Event information
- The title, date and time, time zone, venue name and address, any notes, and any photo the host uploads.
- The guest list
- The names, phone numbers and email addresses the host supplies for the people they are inviting, plus any groups the host saves.
- Payment information
- When a host pays for an event, the payment is processed by our payment provider. We receive a record that the event was paid for. We never see or store a full card number.
- Usage information
- Which screens a host used and what they did there, so we can find where the product is confusing. This is measured in the host app only.
What we collect about guests
We do not collect anything from a guest before they act. Everything below either came from the host, or is the answer the guest gave.
- We do not track guests across other websites.
- We do not build profiles of guests for advertising.
- The guest page loads no third-party scripts, and sets no cookie until the guest answers.
- Supplied by the host
- A first name, and a mobile number or an email address — sometimes both — and sometimes a second name for a household (Sam & Lee, the Nguyens).
- The answer
- Yes, no, or not sure yet; how many people are coming; when the answer was given, and whether it changed.
- Message contents
- The invitation, reminder and update messages we send, and — where a guest replies by text — the words of that reply, so the host can read what was actually said and so we can tell a yes from a no.
- Technical logs
- When an invite link is opened, plus the ordinary server records any website keeps: an IP address, a browser user agent, a timestamp. We use these to make links work, to stop abuse, and to find out when something breaks.
Why we hold it
We use this information for these purposes and no others:
- To send the invitation, reminders and updates the host asked us to send.
- To record an answer and show the host who is coming.
- To let a guest change their answer later.
- To honour an opt-out, so someone who said stop stops hearing from us.
- To bill a host for a paid event.
- To keep the service running, find out what broke, and prevent abuse.
- To answer a message someone sends to help@simpleinvite.app.
Who else sees it
Three groups of people can see information held in SimpleInvite: the host who created the event, the guest whose own invite it is, and the vendors listed below who run parts of our service under contract.
A guest's answer is shown to the host who invited them. Where the host has turned on the who's-coming list, other guests on the same event can see the names of people who said yes — never their phone numbers or email addresses.
We do not share, sell, or provide your mobile phone number or messaging consent data to third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
The vendors who process information for us
Each of these companies processes information on our instructions, under a contract, and for the purpose named. This list is current as of the effective date above; we update it when it changes.
- Vercel
- Hosting for our websites and the host app, and the server logs that come with it.
- Neon
- The database where events, guests, answers and messages are stored.
- Clerk
- Host sign-in and session management. Clerk never runs on the guest page.
- Resend
- Sending email — invitations, reminders, updates, and sign-in codes.
- PostHog
- Product analytics, in the host app only. It is not loaded on the guest page.
- Sentry
- Fault reporting, so we find out when something in the product breaks.
- Twilio
- Sending and receiving text messages, for hosts who have texting turned on. Where no text messages are sent, no guest information reaches Twilio.
If you are a guest
You never had an account with us and you do not need one to be left alone.
To stop texts from us, reply STOP to any message we send you. That ends texts from SimpleInvite for every host, not only the one who invited you, and it takes effect immediately. Reply HELP to any message and we will tell you who we are and how to reach a person.
To be taken off an event, ask the host who invited you — removing you is one action on their event page, and it is the fastest route. You can also write to help@simpleinvite.app with the event and the number or address you were invited on, and we will remove you and tell the host we did.
To ask what we hold about you, or to have it deleted, write to help@simpleinvite.app. We will answer. Where we have to keep something — a record that you opted out, so we honour it — we will say so and say why.
How long we keep things
We keep information for as long as the event or the obligation needs it, and then we get rid of it.
- An event and its answers
- Kept while the host's account is open, so the host can see what happened and invite the same people again.
- A closed host account
- When a host deletes their account we mark it deleted at once, cancel any live events, and stop every scheduled message.
- Guest records after a host deletes their account
- Anonymised 30 days after the account is deleted, so what is left cannot be tied back to a person.
- The contents of messages
- Kept for 180 days, which is the window we have to be able to show what was sent and what consent it rested on, and then purged.
- Opt-out records
- Kept for as long as we operate, because it is the only way to keep honouring a STOP. An opt-out record is a phone number and the fact that it opted out.
- Server and fault logs
- Kept for a short operational period and then rotated out.
Cookies
We use two cookies, and neither is for advertising.
The host app sets a session cookie when a host signs in, so they stay signed in. It lives on app.simpleinvite.app and nowhere else.
A guest page sets one cookie, named guest_session, and only after the guest has answered. It exists so the same person can come back to the same link and change their answer. It is not set on first view, and it is not used to follow anyone anywhere.
We do not use advertising cookies, we do not sell advertising, and there is no advertising network anywhere in this product.
Children
SimpleInvite is for adults. A host must be 18 or older to open an account, and we do not knowingly collect information from a child under 13.
Children do appear in guest lists — a host counts kids in a household when they say how many are coming. What we hold in that case is a number, and sometimes a first name the host typed. If you believe a child's information is in our system and should not be, write to help@simpleinvite.app and we will remove it.
Security
Traffic to and from our sites is encrypted in transit, and the database is encrypted at rest by our provider. Invite links use a long random code that cannot be guessed, and we store only a scrambled form of it.
Access to production data is limited to the people who operate the service, and sign-in for those people requires a second factor.
No system is perfect. If we ever find that information was exposed, we will tell the people affected and the authorities we are required to tell, without dressing it up.
Where information is held
We operate in the United States and our vendors store information in the United States. If you are writing to us from elsewhere, sending us your information means it is handled there.
Changes to this policy
When we change this policy we change the effective date at the top, and we keep the previous version available on request.
If a change materially affects how we treat information already collected, we will email hosts before it takes effect.
How to reach us
Write to help@simpleinvite.app. A person reads every message. Postal mail reaches us through Bangarang Apps LLC, the Commonwealth of Virginia, United States.
