Why we email instead of texting

Because we can send an email today, and we can tell you truthfully that it went.

Sending text messages from a business number in the United States means clearing the program with the mobile carriers first. That review is under way, and it takes weeks that are not ours to hurry.

So the invite goes out by email to everyone who has an email address on the event, sent by us, from your name. When your event page says an invite was sent, it was sent.

For anyone with no email address, we hand you the invitation to carry — a link per person, ready for your own text thread, WhatsApp, or wherever you already talk to them. Those people show as yours to share until you do it, and they are never counted as sent. A row we could not send is not a row we sent.

When texting from our number is live, it will be a setting you turn on, and the answers will come back to the same place they do now.
